Tree Pruning

Tree pruning services from our expert Chichester tree surgeons.

What you need to know about tree pruning.

We have highly trained tree surgeons who can provide tree pruning, trimming & reductions to an exceptional standard.

We can offer this service for many reasons: overgrown tree branches that overcrowd another plant/tree material, to give a formal finish to every garden, to allow natural and essential light to reach your garden. Another good reason to prune your trees is to reduce the risk of damage by wind or storms by reducing heavy tree limbs.

What does Tree Pruning involve?

Before pruning, our professional tree surgeons will assess your trees individually to decide what is appropriate for your garden/space available/size & condition of your tree/s. Your tree/s will then be pruned effectively to maintain structure, health and reduce any risks. Our professionals use modern, up to date techniques of tree surgery, using a controlled method and any ropes or slings to maintain safety while protecting the structure of your tree.

We will assess if your tree is dead, storm damaged or diseased before commencement, and they will need to be cut back to the appropriate branch collar. We follow the British Standards and adhere to the guidelines to ensure tree health, balance and appearance of your tree.

Dead-wooding

Crown Cleaning is when we remove any dead or dying wood, such as stumps, broken branches, or unwanted epicormic shoots.

This service is also used for the removal of any unwanted climbing plants or foreign objects.

Tree Crown Lifting

This process is used to essentially raise the crown of the tree by removing any lower branches. We use this technique on larger trees where shading becomes an issue, as the light can enter underneath the tree.

Tree Crown Thinning

By removing selected branches from the whole crown, the density is reduced, and the overall shape and size of the tree is maintained.

Our arborists use this technique as a weight reduction method when there is a structural weakness identified. We also use this method when there is a risk of damage during storms or high winds.

Tree Crown Reduction and Reshaping

This skilled method is used to reduce the size of the crown, integrating a technique called ‘drop crotching.

Once again, it is often used to reduce the risk of dangerous trees or reduce damage to close buildings or power lines.

Tree Pollarding

Pollarding is a method used to manage a tree by removing the leading stems to encourage regrowth.

We use this method as the regrowth from then on can be regularly removed (known as re-pollarding) back to the same degree, saving future time and costs.
